TONIQ Free

The free audio to MIDI plug-in. Chords included.

Drop in a recording, drag out the notes: every voice of every chord, with velocity and bends. Free for good, on Mac and Windows, with no length limit.

Free forever · no card · no time limit

What the free tier does.

Chords, not just the top line

Every voice of every chord, from guitar, piano, keys and pads. The part most free converters leave out.

No length limit, no watermark

Whole songs, for anything you make, commercial work included.

Vocals, bass, drums, full mixes

Vocal to MIDI with the bends, drum MIDI for your own kit, and a whole song pulled apart into one track per part.

A plug-in, not an upload box

AU, VST3, AAX and a standalone app on Mac and Windows. In an ARA 2 host it reads the clip straight off the timeline.

Velocity and pitch bends

How hard each note was played, and its bends and vibrato, written into the MIDI. MPE where notes overlap.

Nothing is uploaded. No GPU needed.

Who it is for

  • Producers

Lift a riff or a chord part off a demo, a sample or an old take, and put it on any synth.

  • Players and teachers

See every note of a solo or a voicing, at any tempo, and play it back on another instrument.

  • Writing parts out

Chords to MIDI with the voicings intact, ready for your notation program.

  • Mixing and editing

With Pro: fix the one sour note in a strum or a chord without tracking it again.

Hear the MIDI it writes.

Each example is a recording, then the MIDI TONIQ wrote from it, played on an instrument. Demo recordings generated with Google Flow Music.

Piano

A piano piece, melody and chords → MIDI on a piano.

Space plays and stops. Switching jumps back to where you pressed play; drag across the wave to loop one bar.0:00.0

Five kinds of recording, each with its own ear.

A chord, a sung line and a drum loop need different listening. TONIQ tells them apart from the sound, and uses the model trained for that.

Polyphonic

Piano, guitar, keys, pads: chords and the voices inside them.

Full mix

A whole song: band, drums and vocals together. TONIQ pulls it apart first, then writes the notes, one track per part.

Melodic

One line at a time: bass, lead, a synth hook.

Vocal

A sung line, as notes you can play back on any instrument. Vocal to MIDI, with the bends.

Drums

Kick, snare and hats, as drum MIDI for your own kit.

Questions.

Is there a free audio to MIDI plug-in? +
Yes. TONIQ is free for good: it turns WAV, MP3, AIFF and FLAC recordings into MIDI as an AU, VST3 or AAX plug-in or a standalone app, on Mac and Windows. No card, no trial clock, no length limit and no watermark.
Does the free version do chords (polyphonic audio to MIDI)? +
Yes. The free tier writes every voice of every chord, with velocity and pitch bends, from guitar, piano, keys and pads. Polyphonic transcription is not held back for a paid tier.
Can I convert MP3 to MIDI or WAV to MIDI for free? +
Yes. Drop the file onto TONIQ and drag out a MIDI file. In a DAW with ARA 2 (Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, Studio One, Logic Pro, REAPER) you can skip the file and read the clip on the track.
Is there a free vocal to MIDI converter? +
Yes: choose Vocal and TONIQ turns a sung line into notes, keeping the bends. It also writes drum MIDI from drum recordings and splits a full mix into one MIDI track per part.
What is the catch? +
It asks for your email the first time it opens and checks it with a code. We write about TONIQ updates and the INSEKTIQ plug-ins; every mail has an unsubscribe link and the address is never sold.
What does Pro add? +
Editing the notes inside the audio itself: pitch, timing, length, level, vibrato and glides, one note of a chord at a time, played back in your DAW. Try it 14 days free, no card: when it ends, TONIQ goes back to free by itself, with everything free does. Or buy Pro for $129, once.
